Top 5 lies we tell ourselves...

Have you convinced yourself that you will never be successful?

You probably wonder why I would ask such a ridiculous question. I ask this because you could be unknowingly self-sabotaging your success every day if you tell yourself lies. Self-lies are the catalyst for self-sabotaging, self-defeating behavior and it happens every day to everyone at one point or another in our lives. The problem is that we don't recognize and therefore we can't fix what we won't face, hence the reason for this article.

Take a moment and think about lies that have affected your life. Whether it is a marriage, friendship, career situation, debt, or health issue, lies seem to touch everyone at some point in life. Statistics reveal that over 85% of individuals are miserable in their jobs, and this is proof that there is a lot of pretense in our lives. People lie for many reasons, but the most damaging lies are the ones we tell ourselves. The mos

    • As I sit here, I think how lazy I have been about submitting lately so I began to step things up a bit. It's do or die. I need to either make it as a writer or I need to get a position as a lowly cashier because money is getting tight. So this week I have been pushing pretty hard. I'm proud of all that I have accomplished in one day.

I've managed to submit a short feel good article to my local paper, submit my essay to the Ladies Home Journal contest, put a few things on Ebay, and even mailed out a necklace I sold on Etsy. Now it is time to get some dishes done and catch up on some laundry. Before I even think about that I need to caffeine.

Please take a minute to check out some of my articles here on Yahoo! Another goal of mine has been to contribute as much as possible. I have been pretty lax about that as well. On the other hand, I am anxiously awaiting the publication of an article titled "Kids and Technology" in the Living section of my local Merchandiser. That means I'll be p

5 Ways to Save For Your Kids' College Funds

In our relationship, my husband is the fiscally responsible one. He pays the monthly bills because he knows I have a fluid relationship with due dates. I often like to think of them as suggestions, and thankfully my husband takes the more rational, responsible definition. And so it's no great surprise that he's also the one who suggested that we start saving for Elijah's college fund now.

What I didn't know was that when he made that suggestion, he had already managed to tuck away over a thousand dollars. My first thought upon hearing this sum was that he had robbed someone because we are decent at saving, but that much money in 5 months is kind of amazing, and then he shared his method. And suddenly I'm feeling a lot better about my son's ability to afford a higher education some day.

      Here's how to save:

      1. Designate an account
Set up a separate savings account that you will not be tempted to access. We are the current owners of three savings accounts. The first is one we're fu

    • I have Parkinson's, so I have a difficult time keeping my legs still. I have discovered something useful about my shaky legs. I noticed where ever I sit the carpet is clean this because as my legs and feet move back and forth the dog hair and dirt in the carpet collects in small piles. I can just lean over and pick up the big clumps of hair and dirt and throw them away. This got me to thinking why not put a vaccum on the front of my walker, you know they have those stand up ride along lawn mowers. Why not try the same type of thing with a vaccum? At the very least I should set my shaky leg carpet cleaning to music; this way you get exercise and clean your carpeting at the same time. Jugs

Your methods may seem peculiar but as long as they continue to boost the bottom line, you are free to be as eccentric as you need to be. When things flag, though, it's time to act a bit more conservative than you like. Sigh.
