A swimsuit only Lady Gaga could love

American ApparelAmerican Apparel has always been pretty trendy, but we used to appreciate it as a convenient, reliable place for basics like solid color tees and leggings. But somewhere along the line they went overboard on stocking '80s inspired aerobics gear and gimmicky fashions. Take for example their new hooded one-piece bathing suit.

We love that one-piece swimsuits are back in style this season--they're chic and can hide your tummy after you devoured a few too many cookies. But on what planet would someone want to wear a bathing suit with a hood? The planet inhabited by Lady Gaga, obviously. We suppose the hood could shade your face on the beach (though in black nylon fabric it would get terribly hot), but what happens when the hood gets wet? Ugh, this thing is a mess. And it's too bad, because the cut of this swimsuit is pretty darn cute minus the hood.
