Most of us are used to having and seeing cabinets in the kitchen. There are plenty of styles to choose from, of course, but what about forgoing the traditional route? In place of cabinets in this kitchen, open shelves hold glassware, dishware, and vases.
It's certainly convenient for reaching dishes for everyday use. It also opens up the space, making your kitchen look larger. They can even help you to stay more organized, forcing you to pare down your dish collection to the items that you only really use and love.
But your entire kitchen inventory is also open for all to see. Great if your dishes are neatly stacked in color-coordinated rows - but what if your kitchen methods are not so organized? And what about dust? You certainly have to clean those open shelves more often than you do a closed cabinet.
What do you think? Good or bad idea? Do you have them or want them in your kitchen?
