YOUR FRIENDS' ACTIVITY

Birds are eating my sunflower seeds!

Lately there has been lots of feathered activity in the vegetable garden -- especially around the giant sunflowers, whose big heads are drooping and heavy, full of ripening seeds. I always let my plants go to seed -- it's the right thing to do! The flowers and seeds attract insects -- the beneficial ones and the not-so-beneficial ones -- and then the birds come and feast on both seeds and bugs, and everything in the little ecosystem I've set up seems perfectly in balance.
