In Glamour's January 2011 issue, we spill our DOs and DON'Ts of the Year (and what a list it was!). But, as an extra treat, we tapped Brad Goreski, former assistant to stylist and reality star Rachel Zoe to dish his own DOs and DON'Ts about fashion follies and becoming an icon himself.
DO aim high."I saw Rachel's work, and I wanted to learn from her. You've got to know what you want, and you have to be persistent."
DON'T get bogged down following trends. "Pick one thing that you like-a color, an embellishment. I call it a little peekaboo, like when it looks like a blazer and jeans and then…bam-leopard-print boots! I love it when I see those surprises."
DO listen to your fashion voice. "I wear what I want. I recently bought a Dsquared2 jacket with metallic glitter in it. I love it!"
DON'T be afraid to go out on your own. "Giving notice to Rachel was hard, but I had to find my own creative identity. We both cried, but it was the right thing."
What do you think of Brad's list of DOs & DON'Ts? What are your DOs & DON'Ts of the year? Um, and how much do you heart Brad?!
