We're just days away from New York Fashion Week, dolls, which means designers are busy putting the finishing touches on their fall 2011 collections...but if they weren't holed up in their studios creating right-this-minute fashion, what would they be doing instead? We asked a few of our favorites to weigh in...
We'll be bringing you inside scoop from New York's biggest and best designers all week as we prepare for the fall collections--including sneak-peek inspiration images of their brand new stuff!--and we kicked things off today by asking a slew of style setters, "Other than being a fashion designer, of course, what would your dream job be?" And here's what they had to say...
Betsey Johnson: "Broadway showgirl, Icecapade-ette, or Cirque du solei-ette!"
Yigal Azrouel: "Surfer." (Um, we'd like to see that too!)
Carly Cushnie of Cushnie et Ochs: "An actress."
Michelle Ochs of Custnie et Ochs: "A detective."
Lela Rose: "I would own a neighborhood ice cream store!"
Chris Benz: "Teen idol."
Tory Burch: "To build an international charitable organization. There is no greater feeling that making a difference in someone's life."
Tommy Hilfiger: "A musician, I've always loved fashion and music."
Jason Wu: "A pastry chef."
Cynthia Rowley: "The only 'real' job I've ever had was as a bartender, but if I wasn't designing clothes, I suppose I'd like to be dedicating all of my time to certain charity initiatives that resonate very strongly with me."
Elie Tahari: "An architect."
Rebecca Minkoff: "A professional dancer (modern or contemporary)…I danced throughout high school but my dance teachers told me that I was too tall, too long, and I threw off the symmetry."
Sophia Kokosalaki for Diesel Black Gold: "I would have loved to be a journalist. I read 5-6 newspapers a day."
Christian Siriano: "I think I will always be in fashion in some way. Possibly a creative director, stylist, or I would work in the beauty/cosmetic industry."
