Finally a break from the breakfast love! While it's long been touted as the most important meal of the day, a new study says you may want to put the brakes on your morning meal if you're looking to lose weight.

At last, some justification for those of us who are chronic skippers of the meal said to jump start your day, boost your metabolism, and provide world peace.
Okay, if it would provide world peace, I'd eat it, but I get so tired of hearing how great this meal is when I'm not even hungry in the morning. I need coffee, and I'm good. I'm not a morning person (at all!), and I'd so much rather save the breakfast calories for a meal when I'm fully awake, thank you. Elizabeth Hurley is with me on this one too.
The study, published in the Nutrition Journal, followed a group of people for two weeks and observed what they ate. They found that what people ate for breakfast had no effect on what they ate for lunch and dinner -- blowing away the theory that if you skip breakfast, you'll binge later. Plus, they found that people who did eat breakfast ate about 400 more calories a day.

Of course, that doesn't mean breakfast is bad, it just means you shouldn't eat endlessly in the morning thinking you're doing it in the name of your diet. You need to balance out all of your calories and nutrients throughout the day, so if your morning meal is massive, you need to scale back at lunch and dinner ... or that scale may be going in the opposite direction you want it to.
