"Dirty Dancing" is one of many films currently getting a modern update-
What is with all the Hollywood remakes lately? Just like nobody puts Baby in a corner, nobody can replace Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing. But someone is trying to. Kenny Ortega, who choreographed the original dance routines and made the "High School Musical" movies, will direct a modern-day version which will include songs from the original 1987 soundtrack like "Hungry Eyes," and "(I've Had) The Time of My Life." We're just praying they don't use the Black Eyed Peas version. Grey told the Wall Street Journal, "I'm so excited about this news and I think there's nobody better to do this than my beloved Kenny Ortega who is as responsible as anyone for the success of the first one. I can't wait to see what he's going to do with it." Well, that makes one of us.
Why does Hollywood feel the need to rehash some of our favorite, can't-be-replicated films? And even some really crappy movies we wish never existed in the first place? Have studios and less
