Earlier this week I was going through some heavy struggles. When you counsel someone, you also have to have some sort of relief. I may self did not have any at the time I needed it the most until one person opened up his arms to listen; which happened to be two days later. Regardless of what anyone says, that we must walk this walk alone, you still need support. Support does not mean I am going to beat my idea into your mind about what you are doing wrong and how you need to change your life to look exactly like mine. Support doesn't even mean that I am going to talk over you and your problems because my problems are bigger then yours. All of those ideas cause you to become more of a problem to the person that needs the help the most.

While in college, I had taken an Interpersonal Communications course. Enjoyed the class but it begin to open up things that I held back from myself for years. Many of us have a hard time communicating with ourselves as well, so we walk around this world being numb to our surroundings. Communicating is about listening first and then speaking. In order to help anyone, you have to be willing to hear what they are going through. Most times, they just want an ear, not a counselor, not a teacher, or even a judge; just an ear to let them express what they have pinned up inside and can not even make the correct interpersonal communicating decisions to move forward. We can pray to Yahweh all day, but H also brought people into our lives to be a listening ear.

In order to make a friendship or relationship successful, we have to learn how to not be selfish, support people when they need it the most, and communicate effectively. Remember to Embrace who you are, Enhance who you are, and you will Evolve into more. Blessings to you always.
