If you live in Silicon Valley, you can take a college course--at Stanford University, no less.
Stanford (or as we UC Berkeley Golden Bears spell it, Stanfurd) is now offering a class called "Facebook for Parents" and it's already full.
Facebook originally started as a social network for college students. Now it's available to anyone with an email address. And believe you me; moms and dads are all over the site.
The "Facebook for Parents" class is geared towards moms and dads with kids under 18 years of age, and will be taught by college students. I initially wondered why parents would need an actual class to learn about Facebook. It's fairly easy to navigate through the site. Aside from the many different applications you can add to your personal profile, the biggest challenge is deciding what kind of information you want to divulge. I do think the sessions "Ten steps to protect loved ones on Facebook" and "Five ways to stay ahead of kids on Facebook" would be really interesting and useful.
Since most of you can't take the class, though, you should check out a post on the "Facebook for Parents" site that lists five tips for parents on Facebook--very simple and useful guidance. Also? Sign up for the site's newsletter.
