How to Clean Your House in 30 Minutes or Less

Cleaning house can feel like a gargantuan task, especially when you've let things slide for a few days too many. But it doesn't have to be such a time-consuming undertaking. By incorporating these easy tips into your daily routine and prioritizing the areas that have a knack for getting the messiest the quickest, you'll find that keeping the house in order is as easy as pie. The only drawback is that now you'll have to figure out what to do with your new-found free time.

    Kitchen:

    • Do the dishes or place them in the dishwasher after every meal. (5 minutes)
    • Wipe down countertops and stove with an all-purpose cleaner after cooking. (2 minutes)
    • Wipe up any spills and sweep up any crumbs after eating. (2 minutes)

9 Kitchen Gadgets That Make Food Beautiful

    Bathroom:

    • Keep sanitizing wipes under your bathroom sink so you can quickly wipe the countertop after each time you wash your face or brush your teeth. (2 minutes)
    • Once a week, wipe the toilet and seat rim and clean the toilet bowl. By keeping the cleaning products within reach, you'll be more likely to reach for them even if you're not doing a major cleaning (2 minutes)

8 Old-Time Solutions to Modern Domestic Problems

    Bedroom:

    • If you've already started a load of laundry, don't consider it finished until you fold and put away clean clothes. Doing it right away ensures you're less likely to have piles of clean clothes on your bed. (5 minutes)
    • Each morning, clear bedside tables of dishes, books, and reading glasses from the night before. (2 minutes)
    • Get into the habit of making your bed every morning, the moment you get out of bed. You'll be happy you made the time when you come home that night. (2 minutes)

6 Things You Should Clean but Probably Don't

    Living Room:

    • Every few days, wipe the tables with a microfiber cloth to pick up dust while you watch TV. (2 minutes)
    • Break out the Dustbuster to swoop up crumbs on the floor and in the couch cushions. By doing this while you watch TV, you're integrating the chore into your daily routine, instead of waiting for a deep-cleaning session. (2 minutes)
    • Before retiring for the evening put away all entertainment gadgets, DVDs, newspapers, and games that have been left out. (4 minutes)

I was on a river cruise in Europe sailing on a German owned boat. The cleanest place I have ever been. I noticed that they clean areas that are already clean and never stop. They must be the absolute Queens of Clean.

Sorry. No way. I'll clean my house once a week. That's more than enough. Although it IS important to keep the kitchen clean all the time. Safety and health comes first.

This is not cleaning. Cleaning involves windows, floors, walls, closets, cabinets, etc.

That place sounds like a pigsti. THOUGH I'M NOT PROUD OF THE ARRANGEMENT, I AM THANKFUL! I've had to resign to being a house husband. One of my tasks as such, is, house cleaning. Yes you have to keep up with it if it's going to work. But, I keep my house in less than 1 hr per day. The days dishes, sweeping up and mopping floors (and my house is 1500 sq ft) 2 baths toilets sinks mirrors. And laundry 2 Loads a day. my linen is changed every 2 days, and dinner is almost ready when Wifey walks in after work. When I say my home shines, I mean you can eat off the floors. And this gets accomplished in under 1 Hr/Day!

I love it, thank u that's the way it should be, and I am the same! Dinner an dishes @ the end of the day and reward myself with an hour of PC time after brushing and flossing... lol

Another good comment I saw was ... who in the heck has a dustbuster any more??? Even ours broke... That was years ago...

I fold the laundry right out of the dryer. It's too easy for laundry to overtake your house when you've got family. It's easier to maintain a semi clean house than it is to get yourself in the mood to REALLY clean a disastrous house. Just like it is easier to not gain weight than it is to lose it once it's on. KEEP ON TOP OF THINGS!

I don't bother to fold laundry, I just stuff each type into their own drawer.

This is a great article on how to spot clean. But to get down to the nitty gritty, it takes a schedule and energy. 7 in our household 2 adults but sometimes husband falls in category with the 5 kids. As a stay at home mom for ten years after the birth of triplets you set the priorty and get to work for the day garden and lawn work as needed in between doing laundry, fixing meals, baking, play time, reading and naps. you go with the flow it helps when you get the kids involved and honey if you can't help forget about clean socks and that extra time you want to spend with me, ain't going to happen. Notice given when sping and fall cleaning was to happen. You want it you take care of it, otherwise when each room is cleaned top to bottom its gone---

a "dustbuster" is a small; hand-held, rechargeable vacuum cleaner, used for little jobs around the home - or even for the car. I live in a house with 2 flights of stairs and there's no mention of stairs at all - and only cleaning the toilet once a week - what planet are they on - my goodness, I wouldn't want to use their bathroom!!! You might as well just spray furniture polish in the air in each room and walk out, that's about as clean as this would get your home! Next......

It is much better to let your bed linens air out for fifteen minutes before making up a bed in the morning. Your sheets will smell fresh longer. People do sweat at night.

When we built our new house I insisted on one huge kitchen sink instead of those outdated double sinks which are useless. Although I did not get a "designer" farm type sink the big aluminum one I got makes cleaning up so much faster. Dishes are not crowded and get sprayed and into the dishwasher immediately! Also great when you have a big family dinner and want to eat dessert with the family. Dishes are kind of out of sight.

Same here... "How to keep your house neat" would have been a better title. "Cleaning house" in 30 minutes? Hire a crew!
    • sisterflo  •  7 months ago
I think many people are missing the point here. It you do these things on a daily basis, the actual cleaning won't be so time consuming. Plus it will be allot easier this way if kept up for when you do the actual cleanig.

Nobody lives in this house, what a joke

Cleaning a house in 30 min is easy....HIRE A CLEANING SERVICE AND SEVERAL PEOPLE COME IN AND CLEAN AND LEAVE WITHIN 30 MIN....

NEIGHBORS HAVE A CLEANING SERVICE AND IT TAKES THEM LONGER THAN 30 MIN.
      2 PEOPLE...CAN'T DO IT....

maybe this is for a house that is cleaned but turning dirty so they want to clean it again and dont no where to start

doing the dishes in 5 minutes? hell even just washing, drying and putting away the pet food and water bowls takes longer than that! I will just take this as a stupid joke.
    • BP  •  7 months ago
Completely unrealistic. Have you ever been able to fold and put away laundry day clothes and linens in five minutes?
And since most toilet bowl cleaners require letting the solution sit for a minimum of 15 minutes, there goes the 2-minute timeframe.
Tossing hand-held electronics and such takes more time than dusting? Does she keep NOTHING on her shelves that need to be picked up, dusted under and wiped down, that she claims it takes only moments?
Obviously this list was devised by someone who has spent many years watching her cleaning lady do the actual work.

I am a custodian. I know how important it is to keep the house clean. making the house totally free of germs is in a way impossible, but if you care about the health sake of others, you would probably go out of your way to keep the house and other things free of germs. Such as: if you have young children like I did that liked to pick up things off the floor trying to put it in their mouth, after petting the dog or cat and not washing their hands before smearing germs all over their face. you can never tell what germs are covering the toys your children may be playing with that other children have handled after they have been sneezed or coughed on, then without washing their hands, your child ends up touching these toys and gets ill from the germs that was spread on these toys, etc. As ridiculous as it seems, it is true. I see it everyday. Especially bathrooms with toilets, the seats that are sat on, I have to clean pee off the seats and other disgusting stuff that I'd rather not mention that adults do, then they won't clean up after themselves. It makes me sick to my stomach, some of the things that I have to deal with. I work at a courthouse doing rest rooms and other stuff. I also clean up at a college. cleaning desk, taking out trash, etc. But somebody has to do it. I get paid pretty good. Pretty soon I hope to get the job working in the field that I studied and received my certificate at college. I am a Office Systems Technology Major in the field of Administrative Professional. Being a custodian is only temporary for now until I can get a better job, I'm not going to give up. I believe that better things come to those who wait. Sorry I bored you to tears. Please forgive me. Whatever job you have, do your best as if it was the last job you'll ever have, and be thankful every day that you have this job because there are people who wish they still had the job that was taken away from them.

Maybe the person who wrote this article lives in a doll house? or a dog house? Because you cannot - i repeat - you cannot clean a house in 30 minutes...hmm ... unless you have no furniture and no appliances and nobody at all lives there? OK, then maybe. But aside from that or the other possibilities i mention in my first comments, forget it ....
