Eric Ryan/Getty ImagesRemember how Paris Hilton claimed she was in love with her boyfriend, Doug Reinhardt after a few weeks of dating? And then said they were going to get married? Well, that's not happening anymore. After being tipped off about a breakup, People magazine contacted a rep for Ms. Hilton.
"In response to the inquiry on whether Paris Hilton has split up with Doug Reinhardt, yes, this is true they are no longer together," says the rep. "They remain friends and ask that you please respect their privacy."
Just shy of their six-month anniversary, the 28-year-old hotel heiress decided to end the relationship publicly without telling Doug he was officially dumped. When E! contacted him he said, "No, that's not true. Everything is OK between us." Looks like he was the last to know!
Back in April, when Paris first threw around the L-word, we questioned her sincerity. After a string of allegedly serious relationships one after the next, we wondered if Hilton was even capable of loving anything other than herself, her clothes and her house full of dogs. It seems this romance has ended abruptly, just like the dozens of other failed relationships and engagements in her past.
Don't get us wrong, it's not like we're always lucky in love. We're not calling Paris out for breaking up with a guy who doesn't seem right for her, we just think she shouldn't always jump the gun so quickly. Is Paris really, truly in love with all these guys? Does she get in over her head? It seems more likely she loves the attention a new relationship brings, and talks up her new guy of the moment prematurely. Paris, we swear: the next time you proclaim, "he's the one," we're not taking the bait!
