    Measuring cup makeover.

You know those days when you cook and it looks like a hurricane just blew through your kitchen? Pots here, pans there, and plenty of drips everywhere. There are days when we clumsily drop key utensils and end up doing things in a completely makeshift way. And we rarely come out of the experience unscathed (there's a scar or splatter stain from almost every culinary undertaking).

So we were intrigued when we came across this measuring cup set from iSi. They're different from any measuring cups we'd seen before for one main reason: They're made of flexible silicone. And here's why that's so nifty:

    • iSi Measuring CupsiSi Measuring CupsYou can pinch the end to form a big or small spout to pour with precision (less mess)
    • You can fill them with boiling hot liquids, then grab them right with your hands (no burns)
    • The rubbery surface is a little sticky so they're very easy to grip (no butterfingers)
They sport easy-to-read numbers. And now that many of us have become more cognoscente of the chemicals in plastics, it is nice to know that unlike many old hard plastic measuring cups, silicone is safe, won't break down in heat, and doesn't react with foods.

Here are some more Grommets that are as cool as they are useful:

It looks very convenient but in these days of environmental concerns, have we the data to support that bringing silicone products into our homes as opposed to glass is a good thing for health and for the environment?
