Most Anticipated Movies Of The Summer!

    By GALTime
clapboard We here at GALTime are summer movie addicts. It's the time of the year when we can chill (literally!) in the theatre and enjoy our popcorn, diet coke and fantastic flicks (well hopefully we're not wasting those $10 tickets!). We asked Entertainment Reporter Sara Edwards what blockbusters she's looking forward to seeing this summer. We so totally trust her judgment and so should you!

    Sex and the City 2

The chic quartet is back on the big screen, twelve years after their t.v. show debuted on HBO. I was a die hard fan of the show, and loved the first movie. But

as much as I love the continuing antics of Carrie and company, what more can they do? Regardless, I'll be there to see it opening day! Will Big leave again? Why is Aiden back in the picture? And I can't wait to see the fabulous fashions, exotic locations, and the hunky eye candy that Samantha always winds up with. You go girls!! But let's not get to menopause with this series.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Talk about hunks ! Jake Gyllenhaal shows off his buff and bronzed body as a prince of Persia. The story is based on a popular video game series and promises great effects and intrigue. Sounds like it's geared for the boys in your life…big and small.

But you get the advantage of checking out Jake's eight pack. Could be worth the nine bucks you pay.

    The A Team

I was never a big fan of the 80's t.v. show. "I pity the fool" who was. But the movie could prove to be fun, especially with Bradley Cooper, fresh from the success of The Hangover, being part of the ensemble. Remember the premise? Four Vietnam vets wrongly convicted of a crime they didn't commit. Together as the A Team they attempt to clear their names while helping out people in need. In this one, the four soldiers did tours in Iraq, not Vietnam, to update the plot to this decade. Could be a fun one.

    Karate Kid

It's goodbye Ralph Maccio, and hello Will Smith's son, Jaden! He proved he had the charm in his father's flick The Pursuit of Happyness..and now he gets the starring role opposite Jackie Chan who's playing the Pat Morita role. "Wax on" kids…I loved the original…but maybe it is time for your kids to enjoy their own version of this coming of age tale.

    Toy Story 3

Hmmm…can we really go there again? One and two were undeniably hilarious and sweet. And boomers may relate to the nostalgia factor, as the toy's owner heads off to college, too big to play with them anymore. What will the toys do with their "empty nest?" I'll go, just for old times sake. The first two were so great, can this really be bad?

    Grown Ups

More nostalgia..but it could be really funny. Adam Sandler reteams with his pals Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade as a group of childhood friends who get together to honor the memory of one of their former coaches. Take your boyfriend or spouse, and if you don't like it, leave him and sneak into "Sex and the City 2" for a chic fix!

    knightday

    Knight and Day.

The film that had Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz filming all over Boston finally hits the big screen. Having worked together in Vanilla Sky, the two have reunited in this action comedy that, as usual, will have Cameron acting zany, and Tom doing a lot of his own stunts….Perfect summer escapism.

    The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Maybe it's the teenage romantic still living in my heart, but I think there's something to the Twilight series. The casting of Kristen Stewart as Bella was inspired, and the handsome Taylor Lautner as the werewolf,, and Robert Pattison as our brooding vampire hero, provide a guilty pleasure for women of all ages!

    The Kids Are All Right.

I LOVE Annette Bening. and in this film the talented actress is in LOVE with Julianne Moore. The New York Times is raving that this flick is a "note-perfect portrait of a modern family." The couple's two children decide to find the sperm donor that their mothers used for artificial insemination. Enter sexy Mark Ruffalo. I'm in!

    inception

    Inception

Ellen Page, who made a big splash in "Juno" is back on the big screen with Leo DiCaprio in this sci fi thrill fest. I like the premise that new technology allows humans to enter the mind through "dream invasion". Hoping both stars can pull this off…sort of like Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."

    Salt

Yes, I'm sick of Brangelina and their brood too. But there is no denying that Ms. Jolie excels at action films (Tomb Raider, etc.) She apparently pulls a Tom Cruise and does a lot of her own stunts in this thriller. The part was actually written for someone like Cruise. But now this uber-fem fatale steps in to play the CIA officer accused of being a Russian Spy.

    schmucks

    Dinner for Schmucks

Let's face it, there is no better actor to play a sweet schmuck than Steve Carrell. From "The Office" to "The Forty Year Old Virgin", he always makes me laugh.

Carrell teams up with his frequent co-star Paul Rudd in this remake of a French film. Rudd plays a rising executive who must find the biggest buffoon to bring to his boss' monthly "Dinner for Idiots" night. Need I say more?

    eat pray love

I saved what I hope is the best, for last. I loved the book and I'm praying I'll love the movie. Julia Roberts stars as a newly divorced woman who embarks on a journey around the world. The mega-movie star demanded that the film be shot in the actual locations that the book chronicled. So our heroine's quest for self-discovery takes us from New York City to Italy, then an ashram in India, and finally to Bali.

Sexy Jarvier Bardem plays her love interest. It all sounds delicious to me.
