Lemons also prevent avocados from browning if you use a half and want to save the other. The lemon will only prevent browning for about 1 day though.

my mom and now I use lemon peel as a room deodorizer. Simply peel lemon into strips ( you can use orange too) and squeeze the rind into the air away from you.

As a teenager I used lemons to lighten my hair (1950s) as my parents wouldn't let me color it. Be carefrul tho to not get on skin; combination of sun and lemons causes skin problems. Lemon peel in cake batter makes yummy lemon or vanilla cake. These are all old time remedies and much better than today's chemicals. I love lemons in garbage disposal.

Sure these tips are not new but many of the younger adults are not familiar and these tips are worth repeating. Why all the comments about this not being new, come on people other may not be aware of these tips.

I use lemons to clean my microwave, just squeeze a lemon into a microwave safe dish and nuke it till the water boils, the steam and lemon break up the grease and grime and you only have to wipe the inside with a towel, works better then anything I have ever used and is food safe...and the house smells yummy too.

I've read that drinking the juice of half a lemon in 7 ounces of water in the morning is like a shower for the inside of your body. Lemons are loaded with vitamin C, contain many other vitamins and minerals including magnesium. Also great for digestion. Check out the many benefits online.

Lemons has spiritual property... many Indians (India) believe. It may be true or not but we all follow.
      1) Hang a lemon at the entrance of your house and change it every month. (Bad spirits doesn't enter the house)
      2) Place a lemon in a glass of water and change it every day. The lemon should be visible in the hall way for anyone who visits the establishment. (This is specially meant for business establishments). Profitability grows.
      3) When any new vehicle is purchased, four lemons are placed under each tire and the vehicle is run over it. This prevents from future accidents and mechanical trouble. (Instead of 1000 automobile parts the Indians believe in a single lemon :-))
      4) Hang a lemon (may be in new sox) in front of your car grill, again this prevents accidents and death.
This forum is not enough to write many more spirituality about lemons. It doesn't cost much, but if it works its great hence we continue with it.
