If you are like me, you keep a drawer or file folder full of cards for every occasion - because you never know when you will need a good card at the last minute. The last time I went through my cards, I realized that there were some that I no longer found funny, appropriate or even nice looking and really wondered why I bought them in the first place (see the not-so-pretty evidence at right).
I gave a bunch to my daughters to use for their art projects and realized I just gave them over $20.00 worth of 'art supplies'. But now, I have found two perfect solutions for my greeting card supply folder:
Utility Card1) Utility Cards are a simple word search puzzle with a plethora of sentiments (Sorry, Congratulations, Merry Christmas), subjects (Girl/Boy, Home, You) and phrases (Thank You, Missing You, Welcome Home) that allow you to customize for any occasion. My girls love helping me find the words, but the cards also come with a cheat sheet for fast & easy suggestions. An added bonus is that the cards are made using recycled cotton fibers and are 100% tree-free. Plus Grain Design gives 1% back to help the planet. Buy directly from Grain Design for $4.00.
LCD Notecards2) LCD Write Your Own Note Cards are beautifully "debossed" (reverse emboss) notecards that can be shaded in to spell any letter in the alphabet. Includes an alphabet guide for shading reference. Kids can easily use these to create their own cards. Buy directly from Yellow Owl Workshop, where a single card "debossed" is $4.50 or go to Amazon to purchase a set of 20 (not debossed!) for $12.00.
Both are as fun for the giver as they are for the recipient and the one-card-for-every-purpose really fits in well with my plan for decluttering.
