"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it." Author Unkown

The damn thing wouldn't start! It was my own fault, I had failed to turn off the headlights after that early morning fog and now my car battery was dead. I was really pissed when I called AAA for a jump start. It had been a long day, my husband was expecting me and I was anxious to get home. Now I was forced to do nothing but sit and wait. To make matters worse, my cell phone need charging and right after calling for help, it died too.

Then I thought about it and realized this was actually a great wake up call for me. The past few weeks I had been continuously doing, rushing, managing a lot and taking very little time to "recharge my own battery." I wondered why I had to be stopped in my tracks to recognize that I was overloaded. My tendency is to keep pushing, allowing more and more stress, when what I need to do is take a break and relax.

Depleted energy can lead to burnout, or it can lead to total revitalization. In either case it's a sure sign that "time out" is needed. This inconvenient incident proved to be a gift. It prompted me to look at my schedule, to speak to my husband about our taking a mini vacation. Unlike my car and cell phone I am human, and maintaining wellness is not a luxury it is a necessity.

If you are feeling stressed and overworked don't push until you are burnt out, take some time, even if it's just a short break during your day to recharge your battery.

"Do less, breathe more and relax along the way," is what I tell myself and when I don't think I have the time to just BE, I know I need to make more time for ME.
