From New CEOs to Old Tax Uh-Ohs…
She's In The Money!
Yahoo named 37 year old Marissa Mayer its new CEO this week. It's turning into a pretty big year for Mayer - who is also expecting her first child in October. Chatter of course abounds as to how the company will fare during her maternity leave, but one thing's for sure - she won't have trouble paying for a nanny (or two). The Wall Street Journal estimates her 5 year compensation package to be in the vicinity of $100 million!
Taxing Time For Romney
The outcry continued this week for Mitt Romney to release more years of his tax returns than just 2010 and 2011. Interesting tidbit? It was Romney's own father, George Romney, who championed financial transparency 40 years ago when he released 12 years of tax returns when seeking the Republican nomination for president!
Katie Holmes' Designer Dollars
Clerks at Barney's department stores in both Beverly Hills and New York have reported a marked uptick in sales of Katie Holmes fashion line "Holmes & Yang" - ever since she divorced Tom Cruise!
Government Employee Party Animals
The General Services Administration (GSA) is under fire for out of control spending. Highlights include spending $268,000 on a one day "awards ceremony event" - which of course included $20,000 spent to give attendees their own drumsticks so they could participate in an "interactive drumming experience". I still don't know exactly what the GSA does, but I do know I want to party with them!
