OK, we've definitely been loving color around our eyes this summer. And we get it-major shadow is not for everyone. But for all of you lovers of beige and brown, we beg you to consider adding at least a teensy bit of fun around your eyes-in the form of colored mascara. Yes, it's a total '80s throwback (what isn't these days?), but it doesn't have to look as fake and cheesy as it did back then. These mascaras, in fact, are pretty subtle and just make your own eye color look brighter and more interesting.

Purple: Everything from eggplant and deep wine to amethyst look gorgeous on green, blue, or hazel eyes, says makeup artist Chrisanne Davis. Our favorite one: Clarins Wonder Volume Mascara in Wonder Violet.
Blue: This is a great contrast to brown eyes and gives you a little rocker edge, like black. Our picks: Korres Abyssinia Dramatically Volumizing Mascara in Cobalt Blue (if you're kinda afraid of blue) and Yves Saint Laurent Everlong Mascara in Ever Peacock Blue (if you're not).
Green: We know, this one sounds really weird. But trust us, it's beyond beautiful with brown and hazel eyes-it brings out tiny green flecks in your iris. Our picks: Almay Intense i-Color Mascara Bring Out the Green-Emerald Green and Estée Lauder Sumptuous Color Bold Volume Lifting Mascara in Emerald (in stores next month).
