Shampooing your hair is as natural as riding a bike, right? Many women may be surprised to find that they are missing out on some essential shampooing rules that could transform their hair from drab to fab. It's not just about how often you wash your hair or what products you use, but "how" you wash it. If you don't shampoo correctly, you could be living with dull or unmanageable locks. Before giving up on your treacherous tresses, review these essential rules that you should always follow when shampooing your hair.

1. Limit Chemical Exposure

Many commercial shampoos leave an invisible residue on the hair due to excess detergents and color additives. These artificial ingredients dry out the hair, making it brittle and more prone to breakage. Harmful chemicals can plug up the pores on the scalp, creating an improper pH balance, which in turn, can lead to hair loss, dandruff, and other conditions. Opt for natural shampoos, especially those containing real guava and berries.

2. Customize Your Shampoo

There is no "one-product-fits-all" shampoo. A shampoo that you use may not work well for a friend or family member. This is because everyone has their own pH balance that requires their own customized shampoo product. Experiment with various shampoos until you find one that cleans your hair without drying it out.

3. Rotate Products

When washing your hair with shampoo, only a nickel size amount of product is needed. Massage the shampoo gently onto the scalp and throughout the hair, and rinse with warm water. Next, take a second quarter size amount of shampoo and rewash and rinse your hair. Towel dry when finished.
