Sweet Summer Wreaths

Fabric-Wrapped Wreath

MATERIALS

· Scrap fabric in 7-10 patterns, cut into ten 14" x 1½" strips per pattern
· 12" round foam floral and craft ring
· Scissors
· 6" length of floral wire

1. Loop a fabric strip around the ring, right side out, and tie in a double knot at the front.

2. Continue around the entire ring, alternating fabric patterns and staggering placement of knots. Every few inches, scrunch the strips together so the ring doesn't show. Trim any loose threads.

3. Loop floral wire through fabric on the back of the wreath to create a hanger.

The more patterns you use, the tighter you should keep your color palette, so your wreath doesn't feel like a jumble.

Clothespin Wreath

MATERIALS

· Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
· 12" flat floral and craft ring
· About 72 clothespins
· 24" length of 1½"-wide ribbon

1. Apply a 1"-wide zigzag of hot glue from the center to the outside of the ring. Place a clothespin on the glue with the clip end facing the ring's center and extending ¾" past it. Repeat with a second pin but extending just ¼" past the center.

2. Continue, alternating, all the way around the ring. For the last few inches, line up the clothespins first to get the spacing right before you adhere them. Let dry completely.

3. Loop ribbon through the center of the ring and knot it about 6" above the wreath. Tie loose ends into a bow. Hang the wreath from the ribbon. If your clothespins don't quite line up as you finish the ring, hide that part under the ribbon.

To place clothespins without measuring, attach the first so its spring hits the ring's inner edge, the next so the point where the prongs meet rests at the inner edge. Repeat to fill wreath.

Sunflower Wreath

MATERIALS

· Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
· Artificial moss
· 14" round foam floral and craft ring
· About 25 real or artificial bendable branches, 12"-18" long (we used birch)
· Straight pins
· 5-7 silk sunflowers

1. Hot-glue moss onto the ring in 3" sections until entire ring is covered.

2. Hot-glue one end of a branch to the back of the ring and wrap loosely around the front, then hot-glue the other end to the back, using straight pins if needed to keep branch in place until glue dries. Continue with the rest of the branches until entire ring is covered, attaching only one end of some branches and leaving the other loose.

3. Insert flower stems into branches and hot-glue in place, using pins if needed to secure.
