Layer Up
In the same way that you dress yourself for cooler weather, add layers to your home with pillows and throw blankets. Use this time to experiment with mixing textures, patterns, and colors.
Think Warm Tones
Even bright white can feel autumnal when combined with warm oranges and browns. Consider giving those seaglass tones a break until spring in favor of more seasonal pillows or throws.
But Not Just Orange
When adding fall color, orange is not your only option. Jewel tones of deep purple, magenta, and even dark teal can go a long way in warming up a space.
Create a Cozy Nook
Even seldom-used areas of the home can be cozied-up. The addition of a daybed turned this pass-through porch nook into a comfortable destination for curling up with a good book. Throw pillows with plenty of texture warm up the cotton duck mattress cover.
Accessorize
Pull those accessories out of the closet. In the warm summer months you may have craved a simpler look, but during the cold, dark winter, seeing your favorite things will offer a sense of comfort.
