Get Lost in These Marriage Thrillers Until ‘Gone Girl’ Comes Out

By: Ivy Jacobson for TheNest.com

The events in Gone Girl aren't exactly how you'd want your fifth wedding anniversary to play out, but nevertheless, married life has never been so eerie since Gillian Flynn penned the bestselling book.

Unfortunately, the Gone Girl movie doesn't come out until October 3, so here are some other thriller novels about marriage to tide you over until Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike expertly creep us out in theaters:

1. After I'm Gone by Laura Lippman
A shady man's strange disappearance leaves a trail of questions and trouble for his wife, daughters-and mistress.

2. The Silent Wife: A Novel by A.S.A Harrison
Told from his-and-her perspectives, amicable tension in Jodi and Todd's marriage mounts as he continues to be unfaithful to her and she decides she can't be in denial any longer.

3. Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson
Besides this thriller unraveling the mystery of a woman with amnesia who doesn't trust the man claiming to be her husband, it's also a movie being released later this year that stars Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth.

4. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
We're going a little old school with this book (that inspired Alfred Hitchcock's 1940 psychological drama of the same name), but it's just as suspenseful as Gone Girl when a woman isn't really aware of how her new husband's first wife died-or why her presence is still in their home.

5. The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
A dark and disturbing secret is unveiled when a woman finds an envelope from her husband to only be opened after his death-but if you were her, wouldn't you want to rip it open too?
