Kevin McGuire is 18 years old, and he lives in south Jersey. When he was 13, he was diagnosed with leukemia. After years of chemo, pills, spinal taps, and bone marrow screenings, he finally won the battle on April 24, 2010. Throughout his treatment, Kevin stayed positive, played basketball, and started varsity football as a freshman. He also really likes Taylor Swift. But Kevin recently had a relapse and is currently fighting cancer for the second time, which is why his older sister, Victoria, started a campaign dedicated to getting Taylor Swift to go to Kevin's senior prom with him.

Taylor, unfortunately, isn't available the day of the prom; however, because she's a total sweetheart, she did him one better: She asked him to be her date to the American Country Music Awards.

All together now: Awwwwww!

I'm not always a huge fan of Taylor's music (though I will admit to enjoying her Hunger Gamessong with the Civil Wars quite a bit), but this? This is pretty fantastic. According to the Daily Mail, Taylor posted a message on her Facebook page after she got wind of the campaign saying, "Kevin I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up. Would you be my date?"

He said yes, of course; as he put it, "The ACM Awards is a lot better than the senior prom." I'll say! He'll be flying out to Las Vegas to attend the awards ceremony with Taylor on April 1.

Kevin, by the way, is continuing his positive outlook throughout everything (and I'm sure having a date with Taylor Swift certainly isn't hurting); according to USA Today, he's already been accepted to both Rowan University in Glassboro and St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, and he plans to study psychology. And after college? He wants to counsel children with cancer.

Good for you, Kevin. And good on you for taking him to the ACM Awards with you, Taylor. We hope you both have a great time!
