Upcoming DACED General Membership Meeting to Be Held March 28th

A Soothsayer in the crowd yells out....Caesar!

CAESAR: Ha! who calls? CASCA: Bid every noise be still: peace yet again! CAESAR: Who is it in the press that calls on me? I hear a tongue, shriller than all the music, Cry 'Caesar!' Speak; Caesar is turn'd to hear. Soothsayer: Beware the ides of March. CAESAR: What man is that? BRUTUS: A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March. CAESAR: Set him before me; let me see his face. CASSIUS: Fellow, come from the throng; look upon Caesar. CAESAR: What say'st thou to me now? speak once again. Soothsayer: Beware the ides of March. CAESAR: He is a dreamer; let us leave him.

Hello DACED friends,

The above was 'SCENE II A Public Place' from William Shakespeare's play 'Julius Caesar'. It is my favorite Shakespearean play, it has a great and wonderful mix of art & politics.

The Roman statesman Julius Caesar, was assassinated Two-Thousand and Fifty-Six years ago today, the Ides of March. And we still talk about him, study him in High School and University, watch TV shows and movies about his life & times.

But politics in the end were not good to Caesar, in fact, it was the death of him.

The political world of today, in which we have placed ourselves in, can really beat us down sometimes. Puts much strain on our lives, our health, causes us to do things we said we wouldn't normally do, makes us act unpleasant towards our fellow Democrats. Ambitious people who have work towards their goals most of their professional lives sometimes can lose sight of what they were fighting for in the first place. As we continue to drive head-on into this election year, let's try to retain in our brains the reasons we doing what we do, because we are all Democrats, we are all Texans, we are all Americans, and as our constitution points out, We are the people.

The next general membership meeting of the DACED will be held March 28 our program will be 'Weed and Seed'

Operation Weed and Seed is a multi-agency strategy that "weeds out" violent crime, gang activity, drug use, and drug trafficking in targeted high crime neighborhoods and "seeds" the target area by restoring these neighborhoods through social and economic revitalization. The Weed and Seed strategy recognizes the importance of linking and integrating federal, state, and local social services, the private sector, and community efforts to maximize the impact of existing programs and resources. Residents are empowered to assist in solving problems in their neighborhoods. Representatives from the private sector, as well as local community involvement, are pivotal partners in the Weed and Seed strategy.

This should be a very informative program, and I certainly look forward to learning all about it.
