Women Everywhere Are Going Gaga for "Fifty Shades of Grey"

Whether you love it or hate it, Fifty Shades of Grey by new author E.L. James is what every woman is talking about. A recent New York Times report describes the viral effect the first installment of this trilogy (dubbed "mommy porn") has had on women. As women snatch up copies wherever they can find them, local book sellers have had a hard time keeping it on the shelf.

From Facebook pages to whispers between moms at school drop-off, Fifty Shades of Grey has found its fan base almost entirely through word-of-mouth. And if you take a peek at the comments from people who have purchased the book from sites like Amazon, it is obvious that James' erotic tale generally elicits one of two emotions from its readers; either an extremely positive gushing review or a passionate hatred for the book.

One reader, Meg Lazarus, who found fault with the book is quoted in the New York Times as saying, "What I found fascinating is that there are all these supermotivated, smart, educated women saying this was like the greatest thing they've ever read. I don't get it. There's a lot of violence, and this guy is abhorrent sometimes."

While other women like the way the book made them feel. Founder of DivaMoms.com and fan of the book, Lyss Stern, explains how the book has helped her and other women she knows. Stern says, "It's relighting a fire under a lot of marriages. I think it makes you feel sexy again, reading the books."
