Carrieanne Fonger BA, M.MT is a Metaphysical Teacher, Author and Spiritual Guide.

10 Things I Didn't Know About Becoming A Published Author.

1) How much I would learn.

Writing is a process of personal growth. Writing a self-help book is working from an understanding that I have a message and its bigger than me. It's also about believing in my message and speaking out about it.

2) Viewing the world differently.

I have a much deeper understanding of people. After writing my first book, which was an autobiography of going through a spiritual emergence, the feedback people gave me was shocking. They were telling me that they had gone through the same thing and didn't know what to make of it. I learned that everyone is suffering in some way and most people don't say a thing.

3) People see me differently.

Friends and family look at me differently because of the accomplishment of having written a book. I think they didn't realize how serious I was all these years under the piles of copy and hiding behind computer screens to get the final project done. Readers and clients look at me as if I have an intense wisdom and I can fix their problems.

4) How many people I would reach.

I am so grateful to be able to have my book in the hands of so many people. Now with Kindle, it's even more amazing. It is very humbling.

5) Having an intense appreciation for other authors.

Every time I open a book I now have a flash of the memory behind all the hard work that goes into creating it. It takes a lot of time to write a book that readers can start and finish in a few days or weeks.

6) Reading books from a whole new perspective.

I now read books from the author's point of view. It makes me ask many different questions that I would not have thought of before. Why did the author choose this title? How effective are they at getting their point across? How much input did they have on the cover and the copy?

7) The power of connecting with others.

Writing a book has enabled me to meet with so many amazing people! It develops a real connection that is deep and honest with others. I find because people have read my experience that they feel like I understand what they are going through.

8) Being an author opens doors.

I've had a lot of opportunities as a result of being an author. Often I get asked to talk about the books or I get the chance to meet other authors. I love it!

9) The power of sharing my story.

Sharing my story is extremely empowering. It allows me to release it and use it to help others.

10) Catching the writing bug all over again.

I love the process of writing a book. I love that because my second book is coming out some people are just discovering my first book. It makes me think of book number three - it's out in the ether. I can hear the muses working on it already!
