Battle of the socialites: Lydia Hearst says she’s no Paris!

Make no mistake: just because heiresses Lydia Hearst and Paris Hilton are both rich girls who slightly resemble Barbie on the red carpet doesn't meat they are cut from the same stock. "I went to college," says Lydia. "I'm a supermodel. I have a legitimate career in journalism, television, fashion and designing. I'm a Hearst, not a Hilton!"

In sizing them up we'd have to agree there are some differences… and some similarities. They've both designed handbags, posed for many ad campaigns and magazine covers, tried their hand at writing (Lydia writes a monthly column for Page Six mag while Paris allegedly penned an autobiography), and even dated the same guy! Paris obviously has greater, um, camera exposure, and we don't mean just nudity-she has five seasons of The Simple Life under her belt while Lydia is just starting out with a small role on Gossip Girl. Lydia however did take a more traditional (read: educational) route and attend college. And let's be honest: as someone on the journalism field we can tell you, a Hilton has NOTHING on a Hearst. The publishing heiress must be worth a billion dollars compared to Hilton's mere millions (though many earned herself). Sorry Paris, it's true, but keep chugging along and maybe you'll get there one day! [Perez]
