Colin Cowie Dishes on Royal Wedding Trends and Shares a Regal Cocktail Recipe

Colin Cowie fills us in on all the Royal Wedding trends.

With all the coverage surrounding the Royal Wedding it's natural that it will start to influence the style of weddings around the world. The formality of the royal wedding is taking hold and starting what seems to be a return to more formal and traditional décor, with guests invited to attend dressed in black tie for an evening of dining to the sounds of a big band/orchestra.

Color schemes too will take on a more royal feel, incorporating rich colors like my favorites, chartreuse, gold, emerald, and royal blue. The 'Return to Regal', let's call it, will also lead to more rich and lush floral arrangements and flatware in golds and ornate silver patterns. Even invitations will change from what we've seen as a trend toward paperless to a return to custom, hand-calligraphed invitations in traditional fonts; some including monograms and even family crests. Wedding cakes will become more lavish in height and scale with new accent colors and intricate details. We may even start to see the coupe shaped champagne glasses returning to the scene - originally created for British Nobility. The coupe glass adds a sophisticated feel the drinking of bubbly. Cheers! -Colin
