DACED membership meeting is Today -Aug. 31st

Hello DACED Friends,

Our club will be holding it's General membership meeting today. Our Speaker will be Alex Praikos, the Executive Director of the Mesquite Social Services. It is always great to have MSS come speak to us, and continue to grow the partnership we've had with them these past few years. At this meeting we'll be taking a collection for MSS, and please feel free to bring a donation of food or personal hygiene products.

On Aug. 6th our first Casino night & silent auction fundraiser was held at Senor Jalapeno. The event was very successful, attendance was great, and I think everyone had an awesome time. This event will serve as a model for future fundraisers and is sure to be copied by other democratic organizations in the Dallas area. Thanks to everyone who helped put this together, and to those who attended. Without you, we could not have accomplished this.

In Balch Springs on Aug. 13th, we participated in the Balch Springs Back-to-School Bash & Mayor's Diversity fair. We had a voters registration table in which we not only registered new voters, But also educated as many people as we could on the new Voter ID rules. We had nine clubmembers come out to help that day. Registering new voters is a never-ending job, but it is good work that needs to be done.

On August 27th Susie Hess and I attended the Rowlett Democratic club meeting. Their speaker was G.I.S.D. Board Trustee Cindy Castaneda. Both of us were warmly welcomed, and it was wonderful to see all our democratic friends from the Rowlett area. We should continue to support and work with them in our mutual efforts to promote democratic goals.

On Labor day, Sept. 5th, the Garland Area Democratic Club will have an entry in the annual Garland Labor day parade, and would welcome any fellow Democrats who would like to walk with them. I believe the parade starts around 10:00 AM. If you are interested please contact GADC President Fran Donnel frandonnell@verizon.net

Also on Labor day, will be the annual DCDP labor Day Picnic. Being held at Czech Hall, 4930 Military Parkway, Dallas starting at Noon.It is asked that people please bring a side dish, to go along with the hot dogs and fried chicken already being provided. Our club will l have a table there, Candidates and fellow Democrats are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
