DIY indoor gardening idea

Our friends the Farm Chicks (a.k.a. Country Living contributing editors Teri Edwards and Serena Thompson) shared this idea for a fun winter gardening project that could also be made into a gift.

What is a Bulb Forcer?
Basically you are trying to "trick" a spring bulb into blooming in the winter time. It's a fun way to bring gardening indoors and enjoy flowers during cold months.

How to Make the Vase
Just remove the label from a plastic water bottle, cut it in half with a sharp knife or scissors, then invert the top half into the bottom portion. Tape the two pieces together, then cover with pretty paper. For gift giving, include a paperwhite bulb and a note reminding the gift recipient to place the bulb root side down and fill the bottle with just enough water to cover the bulb's base.
