Emmy's Worst Beauty Looks -- Ever!

Let's be honest: the real reason most of us watch coverage of the Emmy's red carpet (or any red carpet, for that matter) is because we want to "ooh" and "ah" over the dresses and jaw-dropping diamonds, cringe at Ryan Seacrest's and Joan Rivers' awkward interviews, and snicker like bratty school kids when the stars make bad hair and makeup choices.

After all, critiquing is a big part of awards show fun. Sure, we love our celebrities but the reason we delight in their missteps is because we've all been there. It's like prom all over again. Except this time we can crown the night's beauty winners from the comfort -- and safety -- of our comfy couches.

That's not to say that the stars need to be conservative. Sometimes a beauty risk can pay off like (think Blake Lively's goddess ponytail in 2009, far left). Although, other times it can earn you the "What was she thinking?" award. (Patricia Arquette's southern bouffant hairstyle in 2005 is still seared into my mind's eye.)

So, in honor of the Emmy Awards this Sunday, and as a nod to all those who've made my night in years past, I rounded up the worst hair and makeup looks ever to appear on the television award show's red carpet. Here's the rundown …

The usually near-perfect Jennifer Aniston took her bohemian vibe to a whole different level in 1999 when she tried this golden dreadlock look. A word of advice, Jen: don't get it twisted

I crown Paula Abdul with the worst hair award for not once, but twice wearing a tiara to the big show in 2003 and 2004. Talk about a royal screw up.

Last year, "Boardwalk Empire" star Paz de la Huerta had a major miss with her look. Grey lipstick and wild bedhead don't do it for me (or most other red carpet watchers) in the least. But, hey, at least she got into the Emmys, she was turned away from the Golden Globes after party for being too drunk.

And, the final winner (loser) is "Glee" actress Naya Rivera, who in 2010 proved that bigger isn't always better. Especially when it comes to super-sized Mini Mouse-shaped topkots.

Do you agree with these worst ever Emmy looks or do you have a few of your own to contribute?
