Food For Thought

Happy New Year To Everyone !!!

I am celebrating my one year anniversary on Shine. It has, like for most, been quite a roller coaster ride. I have, however, made incredible friendships.

A lot of people ask me questions about food. One of the biggest questions is how can people afford to eat healthy and yet stay within a budget. I find it challenging myself but I have tons of tricks up my sleeve.

WE ALL KNOW WHAT THIS IS.......

..........................and this!!!!

What would happen to this world IF it was in an age where there were absolutely no fast food establishments, frozen foods, processed foods, HFCS drinks? What would it be like if WE had to make all of our meals each and every day?

Do you think it would help to clean up this sad obesity issue amongst kids?

BUT IF IT WERE GREAT FOR ME............I would eat 5 of these a day!!!!!! Filet O...Yum O !

THIS CHICKEN POT PIE cost less to make than what the two boys above are eating. It feeds at least four!
...................at least four.

HOW DID PEOPLE IN THE 1700'S AFFORD TO EAT HEALTHY FOODS?

Yesterday........I made 10 pizza's and 2 huge calzones. I spent a total of $20.00 and still have the ingredients to make many more. I made 6 different kinds of pizza's and I have 5 frozen one's ready to pop into the oven. Around here a large pizza runs about $18.00 and toppings are $1.50 per.

It is really sad that so many families (like mine) can't have a home cooked meal together like in days past. There was no such thing as obesity in the 1700-1800's. Even growing up, I rarely saw an overweight kid.

So my question to you is.... What would change drastically in your life if we had no fast food or drink, no frozen or prepared foods of any kind? How would you cope? What would the kids eat?Do you have the resources to completely stop relying on outside sources for most of your foods?

How can we afford to feed ourselves and our families within our means?
