How I Lost 136lbs in a Year and Got a New Life!

Who would have thought at 40, I would be able to lose 136lbs and be in the best shape of my life? I sure didn't. For over 20 years I had no hope and had given up on trying after years and years of failed attempts, programs that didn't teach me everything I needed, fad diets, fad exercise equipment and programs.

I wasn't being the mom I wanted to be to my boys and was setting little to no examples of nothing only good heath but to love yourself properly. Life was literally passing me by while I sat wishing for change. Wish was the word...not want. I suppose I wanted it but was fearful of truly trying something that yet again, would fail me or I would fail at. What I now know is I didn't have the tools, knowledge and support that I personally needed for success. I needed to be truly ready to commit to this lifestyle change.

It wasn't until a humiliating experience happened that I realized how my obesity was not only effecting me but was causing negative consequences to me and my family. They were being directly effected by this and I didn't want that. My son and I were in line for a roller coaster which we were both excited about. Geeze, we waited in line for like an hour to ride this coaster! When we got into our seats, I found that the seat belt wouldn't fasten. I tried several times but was forced to ask the worker to come help me (praying that it was just me doing it wrong). After a few minutes of him trying, he spoke up and said "Mam, this seat belt will not fit you, you will have to exit the ride with your son". We got up and I fought back tears right then and there as we "took the walk of shame" in front of hundreds of people and snickers and laughs. This was a very low moment for me. I cried, packed my bags and we left for home.

I was extremely depressed and so tired of not living. I wanted the change but had no idea how to go about it. I didn't know how to exercise properly, I didn't know how to eat properly and I didn't have anyone to help me and support me. This is very overwhelming and what keeps many people from starting their journey.

One late night, while eating chips and pop...I came across and infomercial for P90X. I had seen this before and thought it was crazy! For some reason, I watched the entire infomercial and was interested. Being 281 lbs, this program did NOT look designed for me! After watching it, I went on Youtube to look up other results from it and found several success stories of people who had lost 100's of lbs doing this program. After lots of research, I also found that the fitness program came with an entire nutrition plan to follow which was not a diet but a new way of healthy eating for life! I loved this!!! I decided to give it one more try since I could return it in 30 days!

It got even better! When I got the program, they asked if I wanted a free coach for support with a free membership online. This person helped me with my program, gave me advice, support and kept me motivated when I felt I couldn't do it.

The end result...I started at 281 lbs and with hard work, following the program and nutrition plan, I'm now 145 lbs and in the best shape of my life. I'm now committed to helping others see that this is possible when you are ready to change your life. There is no simple fix. The key to success is changing your thinking, exercising properly and regularly and most importantly, changing your eating habits to one that can be followed the rest of your life. Viewing food differently as fuel not reward or want. Food is a need! I have a new life, my boys have a new mom and my husband has a new wife. This is gave them hope as well not just to change their own health and fitness but something bigger..that when you fight for something you believe in, want it bad enough and have support, you can accomplish your goals.

Here's my video in hopes that others will see they can do this too and get a new life! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCZG92BKGdU
