Makeup Playtime: Featuring Merle Norman's Fall 2013 Color Collection

One of the perks of being a Shine Beauty Guru is all the makeup I get to play with. Sometimes the sample products I get are, well, Yawnsville but I am happy to say this latest goodie bag from Merle Norman was a happy surprise. So glad to see that the Merle Norman Fall 2013 Color Collection wasn't loaded with the predictable fall hues you normally see. Before I give you some product details, let me just say that overall, this color ensemble, described as "drama blending leather with lace, spikes and studs, alongside ladylike looks" is one I plan to go to all season long. It's sexy, dreamy and puts the focus on the eyes. I love it!

Lasting Cheek Color
Lasting Cheek Color

I received a few products in my package but these were my favorite:

Long Lasting Cheek Color--Truly Yours
What I loved: The wide brush was soft and covered the apples of my cheeks nicely. The color was perfect for my fall makeup wardrobe, not too dark but not pink either.
What I didn't love: Perhaps I hug too much but I have to reapply this cheek color after a few hours. Not a big deal for me, no blush stays on my skin too long.

Limited Edition Eyecolor Trios--Smoke and Mirrors
What I loved: This limited edition trio (say it ain't so!) was my favorite color combo. Pink Slipper, Perfectly Perfect, and Fancy Girl eye colors are just what i need for a fall smoky eye.
What I didn't love: I absolutely adored this collection. Sorry, no hating on this trio. I wasn't a big fan of the other set, Prim and Proper but it didn't really work with my skin and hair color.

Age Defying+ Lipcolor--Luckier In Love
What I loved: I love the ever so light scent and how soft my lips feel when I kiss it away. My lips are smallish, no trout pout here, but this color/product actually flattered my lips. Luckier in Love is the perfect pairing with Smoke and Mirrors!
What I didn't love: No complaints here!

This collection is affordable for the average gal. (Including Moi!) The trios are $20, the cheek color is $16 and the lipstick is a cinch at $15. If you purchase the Age-Defying Lip Liner and the Pro Pen Eyeliner, you could easily have a complete collection for less than $100.

Okay, so here's me wearing my goodies. (No hating on my hair, I have a hair session scheduled!) If you get a chance to stop by a Merle Norman store, do it and ask to check out these excellent fall colors. You can try the products before you by them if you take advantage of their free makeovers. Happy Fall!
