Mariah to wed Nick Cannon?! For real?
On Saturday April 26 something very strange happened. Mariah walked the red carpet at her Tribeca Film Festival debut, "Tennessee," WITHOUT HER SIGNATURE BUTTERFLY RING. In it's place? A 17-carat engagement ring made of pink and purple diamonds! Apparently a source saw her rumored-beau Nick Cannon shopping at Jacob & Co. (aka Jacob the Jeweler) where he bought the rock for $2.5 million. Hold up, we didn't even realize they were that serious, let alone that Nick was in any position to be dropping that kind of change! Upon further inspection, we discovered that Cannon has his own record label, TV and movie production company, clothing label, won the Cannes Film Festival award for Breakthrough Actor of the Year in '06 and has a slew of acting titles under his belt including his own MTV hit "Wild 'N Out."
Maybe he is worthy of Ms. Carey after all-he's like a mini entrepreneur! Sure he may be young for her -- she's 38 and he's 27 -- but he proposed to his ex-girlfriend, Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks on a jumbotron in Times Square after dating just over two months! While she could just be thrilled at her fab new bod and album success, Mariah does seem to have a suspicious smile plastered on her face lately.
