Matt and Audrey and the Babies

My son Matt and his wife Audrey are both Iraq veterans. Audrey left the service in 2007 to begin a family.
In Oct of 2010, my first granddaughter was 2yrs old and Matt was deployed to Iraq. Audrey became ill and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Audrey's tumor was such that she had to decide whether to lose all function of the right side of her face, or become profoundly deaf in her right ear. She chose to be deaf. The surgery was successful and as of this posting, she has not had a reoccurrence.
In May of 2011, Matt, who works out daily, is in a running club and has been in the military for close to 20 yrs., ran a marathon. He got to within 20ft of the finish line and went into full cardiac arrest. They were able to revive him. Upon arrival at the hospital, he again went into full cardiac arrest. His prognosis was not good. The doctors advised he might have brain damage, he might not wake up from the coma he was in, he might have permanent problems. Matt woke up 5 days later, and has had a full and complete recovery. He did however have to have a defibulator implanted within his chest. It seems he has a very obscure genetic issue, which no one in our family even knew about and during all the years of physicals from the military, it was never discovered. The military has politely asked that Matt resign his commission. Therefore Matt, who has made the Air Force and serving his country a major part of his life, will be unemployed as of this December.
October 11, 2012, my grand daughters, ages 4 and 2, ( Matt and Audrey's precious daughters) were horribly attacked by 3 rottweilers. Both little girls recieved horrendous wounds and damage to their little bodies. They were flown to a childrens hospital and were in critical condition. The 4 yr old has suffered damage to her legs necessitating future surgeries to enable full function of her legs. The 2yr old has severe trama to her head and is still in serious condition. I can not imagine the extent of all the surgeries she will have to endure in the future.
If anyone would wish to donate to the care of these two precious girls, please go to youcaring.com and enter regan and kaitlyn obrien. Anything which is donated will be so greatly appreciated.
