Have you ever come across someone who just has it? I mean, they have the business sense, the drive, the confidence, and everything else that comes along with the package regardless of environment or what people say? I came across a wonderful woman with all of that and more. Tamika Newhouse, Entrepreneur, mother, mogul, author, model, and so much more embodies all the characteristics of a woman in business. For over three years, I have followed Tamika on Facebook. From her sheer determination and dedication, she pushed forward regardless of "no's" and obstacles. As I observed her speaking with fans and fellow authors, I noticed a quality that many people do not have; assuredness and inventiveness.

"You have to think about and do what is not typical to get yourself out there as a business person," she said speaking to a fellow author. By looking at her, you can see that those very words are true. After leaving the Essence Festival in New Orleans, she made her way to Houston, Texas at the Author's Pavilion at the 2012 NAACP Convention. When I was able to pull her aside to have a small conversation, because my interviews stem from conversations, I asked her was she always a people person. "I had a hard time being out in public and speaking with people which is really hard to believe, right?" Indeed it is hard to believe because she has the "it" factor that leads a person in the right direction to becoming that mogul that many of us hope to become. "What got me started was my love of reading and observing how the publishing business works. I would first post and share which books I was reading and gave my opinion on them." Just by having the love of reading she gathered together all the information throughout the years and founded African Americans on the Move Book Club (AAMBC).

Her book savvy is not the only thing that caught my attention years back with her. Tamika Newhouse made considerable changes through the years. If you didn't know her several years back, you would think that she was always outgoing in looks and loved the camera. Baby let me tell you, Tamika made some changes from the inside out. "First I had to get my mind right, a fashion stylist, and a personal trainer," she said. Tamika has lost a considerable amount of weight by gaining a healthier lifestyle and truly looks good and feels even better about herself; confidence in a good way. You can see it by the way she walks and talks. Tamika is not hard to approach one bit. She takes the time to greet whoever comes her way. Her transformation, as well as dedication, has inspired me in many ways. She has truly evolved into a beautiful woman inside and out.

What makes a mogul in my eyes? A mogul is someone who is always looking for an opportunity to promote their product, being inventive, not afraid to speak up and out, and forever on the go. Why in my eyes, Tamika Newhouse is a mogul.

Her Affirmative Quote: "I am beautiful!"
