Things we don't get: Shia LaBeouf

Someone somewhere decided Shia LaBeouf was going to be the next big thing. Well, we have a message we'd like to tell that person: we're not feeling him! Sure Shia kept up a decent stage presence in films like Transformers, this summer's installment of Indiana Jones and thriller Disturbia, but were his performances particularly noteworthy? Definitely not. Now add to his resume an arrest for drunken Walgreens shopping, a bench warrant for skipping out on his court appearance, tossing around anti-gay slurs and his most recent DUI accident (he injured his passenger and the other driver and needed hand surgery which will delay his return to the filming of Transformers 2 at least one month) and we're really having a hard time being sold on the latest young man the entertainment industry is trying to shove down our throats. Are we really gaining anything by his existence in Hollywood? Even his name is a pain to pronounce!

We'd love to give Shia the benefit of the doubt. His father was a hippie who apparently smoked pot with him when Shia was a mere 10 years old and was sent to rehab for heroin addiction while his poor mother was left to raise him in Echo Park, Los Angeles. Despite the fact Shia claims he hated school, he got into Yale and then declined. Perhaps there is something within this guy that just keeps him from living up to his full potential.

Do you think Shia LaBeouf deserves all the attention he's getting or do you feel he's another overhyped, disposable actor? [US Weekly]
