TRENDING Jan. 6: Resolutions, Human Barbie, Funny or Die GOP Debate
Back for the new year and the blog after finishing some major projects, especially the Yahoo! Year in Review. I returned to talk about trending topics on KGO Radio, and there may be other local chats in the works. Meanwhile, for this week:
· New year's resolutions: Oh, there are many. As you might suspect, cutting weight's at the top - and people are looking at everything from the quickie Master Cleanse stuff to finding the perfect workout routine. People also want to find a job, volunteer, and travel more. We're also looking forward to more new years - lunar's coming up on the 23rd, and there's always Nowruz in spring. Check out Yodel Anecdotal later for more resolution trends - and when diet searches are really at their highest. (Hint, it's not January)
· Human Barbie. Yes, Barbie can procreate, but some people think that's a bad idea: The surgically altered Sarah Burge gave her 7 year old daughter a liposuction gift certificate valued at nearly $11k. She already has a breast augmentation voucher for her future. It's a like a college fund, except utterly degrading. This is the British woman's third daughter -- her first two kids have already done some "work."
·
Casey Anthony: The most-searched person of the year has been laying low in the past few months, until now: Someone hacked Anthony's video diary and uploaded it to Youtube.
· Brad Pitt. He just tore his MCL. Ow ow ow. That's medial collateral ligament, one of four that holds the knee together, and a tear could mean surgery in the future. At least he can enjoy his Xmas/birthday present if he needs to rehab - his own personal waterfall in California, where he can build his own Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired hangout.
·
Yahoo's Funny or Die spoof: A must view: Yahoo! News Funny or Die exclusive on a GOP Cyber Debate - very SNL. Not only is Larry King hosting, but Mike Tyson plays Herman Cain. Uh huh. Cover your ears.
Didn't have time to mention this, but fascinating nonetheless:
·
Harry Potter Owl: Just in time for the annual Audubon bird count, a parliament of snowy owls (yes, the parliament's the collective, like a gaggle of geese and a pride of lions) has been spotted throughout the U.S. Incidentally, its main food source: lemmings. No wonder they jump.
