El Día de San Valentín is coming up, and it's time to start thinking about getting together the perfect look for your date night (or snagging that date!). I think the holiday is a great opportunity to experiment with color; you don't have to go over-the-top, instead opt for a subtle, sexy look. Purple eyeshadow is the perfect complement to brown eyes, as it makes them pop and is a twist on the classic black, smokey eye. I'll show you how!

Seductive eyes

Start off by applying an eye primer. I'm in love Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Wheat. For eye shadow, I'm using Clarins Eye Quartet in Iris Blossom in order to do a sexy, purple smoky eye. Apply the shimmering white to the inner corners of the eyes. Then, take a satin taupe color, and apply to the rest of the lid. Next, apply the violet purple color along the crease and outer corners of the eyes.

Watch me create this gorgeous Valentine's Day look:

Blend out the purple with a blending brush and a bit of taupe color. Use windshield wiper motions to blend out the shadows. Next, I'm using the matte black in the palette, shading it on the crease area to smoke up the look some more. Then, apply a bit of the shimmering white to the brow bone area. Follow-up by applying some of the purple shade along the lower lash line in order to complete the eye look.

To line the upper lash line, I'm using Clarins 3-Dot Liner which is designed to easily dot the liner on the eyes andget in between the lashes. To finish the eyes, apply your favorite mascara. Here I'm using ELLLIS FAAS Mascara for expert definition and length to the upper and lower lashes.

Flushed pink cheeks and lips

For cheeks, I chose Laura Mercier Crème Cheek in Oleander, which is a cool, bright pink. This color is buildable, and you can layer it on for a soft or bright look. Then, to set the blush and add a bit more color to the face, I'm using Clarins Radiance Range Powder and Blusher around the cheeks and on the forehead and chin area. For a romantic glow, add Laura Mercier's Starlet Mosaic Shimmer Bloc to the highest points of the cheek bones, as well as a little bit on the bridge of the nose.

Then, I chose Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip color in Arabesque for the lips, which is a soft, baby pink that won't clash with the purple eye shadow. To top it off, try Clarins Gloss Prodige in Water Lilly for a pretty pink shine.
