Beauty Guru: 3 Quick Beauty Fixes that Save Me Every Time

Sometimes things go wrong when we are getting ready to go out. A hairstyle malfunction may happen at the last minute. Sweat might begin threatening to ruin the flawless makeup you just applied, and sometimes, Murphy's Law just comes in full swing when you have little time left to start over. These three quick beauty fixes save me from last-minute beauty disasters every time.

Hairstyle Fails

When I set my hair in rollers, Bantu knots, two-strand twists, or braids overnight, I usually get beautifully defined curls. But for some reason, this does not happen all of the time. Sometimes those curls are frizzy, or they just want to be too wild and free when I need them to flow in a specific direction.

This is when I need to change the hairstyle at the last minute. I prefer my "go-to fixer-upper:" the flat twist. A flat twist is similar to a French braid, but instead of a braid being woven to the head, a two-strand twist is woven. When I am in a pinch, I will divide my hair into two sections from front to back (does not need to be a center part). I secure one side of my hair with a covered elastic. Then, I take the other side and create a single flat twist starting from the front and twisting around to the back. I secure the end of the twist with a covered elastic. I do the same flat twist to the other section. The hairstyle is simple, takes about three to five minutes to do, and I have even done this in the passenger seat on my way to my destination.

Unruly Eyebrows

I do not know if my eyebrows just like being difficult when I need to look good, or if my unruly curly hair is to blame. For whatever reason, my brows sometimes like to curl and just go every way but flat. This is when lip moisturizer or lip balm comes in handy. I like to keep a tube of Avon's Moisture Therapy Lip Ointment in my purse and beauty bag to help out. I just squeeze a bit of ointment on my index finger and smooth over my brows. My brows stay put and the ointment makes them look darker, as if I actually took time to define them.

A Quick Shot of Color

Unless I am going out on a date or hanging with my girls for a GNO (Girl's Night Out), I am without makeup. Sometimes when I am out without makeup, unexpected plans arise. Thankfully, I always carry some colored lip gloss or a tube of lipstick with me. I simply apply the lip color to my eyelids for a sheer shot of color and layer it on my lips. If the lip color I have with me matches my natural flush, I will work a couple of dabs into my cheeks for blush. To get ride of the shine, I dab my eyes and cheeks with a tissue.

These quick fixes have saved me in a pinch, take less than five minutes for me to do, and allow me to look good even when a beauty disaster strikes.
