Beauty Guru: Fast Fixes for Beauty Problems

Are you running late? Got a few beauty bummers that need a quick pick up before you can head out the door and on your way? We all have our moments of beauty misery, when things just don't come together, when our hair doesn't cooperate, our makeup won't go on right, and we are just plain running late. But you don't need to let a rough start to the day ruin your mood and deplete your confidence. Here are a few common beauty problems and a couple of fast fixes to save the day, boost your confidence, and help you get back on schedule.

No time to wash your hair. Whether your alarm failed, the line at the gym was too long, or you're just running late, you may have to skimp on the amount of time you have to do your hair. Well, don't despair! You can fake clean hair and make it look good, too. For best results, keep a can of dry shampoo in your beauty stash. Hold it about 8 inches from the roots, and give it a light spray. It will absorb oil and odors, leaving you with fresher, cleaner-looking locks. Bonus, dry shampoo adds texture and volume to fine thin hair, so can even use it as a styling product when your hair is nice and clean. If your fresh out of dry shampoo but still have some stinky locks, use a light dusting of baby powder instead. In a pinch, a dash of cornstarch will work, too. Just be careful not to use too much! If you hair is long, give the roots a quick tease, a quick shot of hair spray, and pull it into a side-swept ponytail. If you need to, run a flat iron or add a few curls to the ends for style. If your hair is short, use a little pomade to get a tousled, messy look, and give it a quick spritz of hair spray. You should be on your way in no time at all.

Puffy, red eyes. Maybe you suffer from allergies, all-nighters, or a bit of overindulgence, but the results are the same: puffy, baggy, red eyes. Chill two spoons in the freezer and apply them to the under-eye area for a few minutes, or better yet, apply a slice of cucumber, or a used, chilled (never hot) green tea bag. The antioxidants will soothe irritation and pull out the puffiness. Blot eyes dry, and use an eye primer before applying shadow. Apply a flesh-toned concealer in the corners of your eyes and anywhere there are dark circles. Blend outward to create a smooth finish. When choosing eye shadows, avoid pinks and blues, which make you look more tired, and opt for warmer browns. Use a heavy liner and two coats of mascara.

No time for makeup. If you're really in a rush, you may not have time to do a full face of makeup. But you still need to look posh and polished, so try this simple look. Use a tinted moisturizer all over your face -- it's quick, easy, and you're unlikely to make mistakes when you're in a hurry. Apply a bronze cream eyeshadow on your eyelids, and line just the tops with a smudgy, warm brown pencil liner. Apply two coats of mascara. If you want a subtle look, just apply a bit of soft pink gloss to your lips and call it complete. If you need a bit of drama for your day, apply a strong red lip color or lip stain. You'll look fabulous and the strong red lip will give you confidence to shine.

Remember, in a pinch, you can still look fabulous. Keep it simple, keep it lovely, and wear it with a great smile.
