I go on a vacation at least once a year, especially in the summer. Being a new mom and freelancing from home, I need a change of scenery now more than ever. Whether it's a road trip around Florida or a plane trip to NYC, I'm just happy to get out of the house. While I have no problem packing up all of my beauty stuff, my husband would not be happy lugging all of that! So, I have to narrow it down and think about what's going to keep me looking good on vacay. Here are my five absolute summer beauty must-haves when I go out of town.
My vacations are always jam-packed with activities, so I don't want to spend all day on my makeup. That's why I love bringing my eyeshadow sticks. All I have to do is color in my lids, and viola! I have instant, bold eye color. ScandalEyes Eye Shadow Sticks from Rimmel London would come along with me, because, not only are the pigments amazing, they're also waterproof.
Summertime means swimming and washing my hair afterwards is a must. My washing routine at home can take forever, so I cut down on time and product by using just a moisturizing conditioner. My curls get clean and moisturized at the same time. One of my favorites is Hello Hydration from Herbal Essences.
I skip foundation all together when it's hot out, so packing my tinted moisturizer is a given. I get moisture, color coverage, and sunscreen protection with just one product. Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer from Smashbox always ends up in my makeup bag. It gives me great, natural-looking coverage, and I don't have to worry about getting sunburned.
Sun, sweat, chlorine, and salt water can take a toll on my hair and when it's not happy, it doesn't cooperate! So everyday before I head out of the hotel room, I have to put on some type of styling cream to keep my curls happy. My products of choice are Shea Moisture's Curling Smoothie and Organix Argan Oil and Shea Butter Curl Enhancing Yogurt. They both give my hair the moisture and shine it needs to look its best while I'm out and about. I love the fact that I can use them on wet hair, too.
Hotels never have enough of those little lotion bottles, and the ones they do have don't work on my dry skin. So I bring my favorite scented lotion along, so I know my skin will be soft and moisturized during my vacation. It also leaves me smelling really good, so I don't need to tote along a clunky perfume bottle (so not TSA friendly!). My gift bottles from Bath and Body Works always come in handy when I go away.
