Beauty Guru: How to Transition Your Beauty Bag from Summer to Fall

Seriously, where did the summer go? It feels like I was just getting in the groove with my summer beauty routine, only to find the fall knocking at my door. With every new season comes the transitioning of our wardrobes and our makeup. While our skin care products may need a change as the weather gets cooler, the good news is there are summer makeup trends that carry over! Today, I'm breaking down the beauty products that you need to add to your bag and those you can still hang on to.

What to Add:

Cream-to-Powder Foundation As the temps cool down, we can give those BB creams and tinted moisturizers a rest. That's great news for oily skin girls, like me, who prefer a matte finish on our beauty looks. If you're not ready for your regular foundation, cream-to-powder formulas are perfect. They're light on your skin while giving you the same coverage as regular foundation.

Night Cream Keeping your skin moisturized is more important than ever this time of year, with colder weather making dry skin even worse. Adding a night cream to your bedtime routine can keep that dryness in check, because the formula is a little thicker than your normal moisturizer. It can replenish your skin from a long day while you get that beauty sleep.

Deep Conditioner All that swimming and time out in the sun can do a serious number on your hair. While we know to protect our skin in the summer, our hair often gets neglected. So this is the time to get it back into shape with regular deep conditioning sessions. Many good conditioners require some time under a hooded dryer for the best results. If you're a DIY type of girl, you can whip up your own. Avocado, eggs, mayo, and coconut oil make great at-home hair masks.

What to Keep :

Red Lipstick The bold red lip isn't going away, a big trend on the fall runways of designers like Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, and Oscar de la Renta. The difference? A matte finish is the name of the game for fall. To make the most of your summer red lip color, fill in your lips with a red lip pencil first and then apply your lipstick.

Purple Eyeshadow I'm a sucker for purple shadow! It's one of those shades that looks good on just about everyone! Use the bright shades you've been rocking all summer as a highlighter on your lids, followed up by darker shades on the outer creases. Want to go bolder? Rock a purple smoky eye or a plum colored liner.

Your turn! How are you transitioning your beauty bag for fall?
