Beauty Guru: What's in My Makeup Bag for a Summer Getaway

To be honest, I do not have any summer vacation plans on the horizon, for as the British would say, I'm skint, or in colloquial American, I'm broke. That does not mean I don't dream of a vacation, because I do. I've spent many a dull work day dreaming up where I would go and what I would pack, right down to my essential beauty supplies. So what makes it into my imaginary toiletry kit? Here's the run down of my top 5 summer vacation must-haves.

1) Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Facial Towelettes

Why? - As a greasy girl, I suffer from the midday melt. Even if I'm not wearing makeup, around 2 o'clock my face starts to feel a little less than fresh and these wipes are a fast way to clean up. Plus I'm a little more laid back on vacation, less regimented (read: lazy), so at the end of the day the towelettes are a quick bedside fix for makeup removal.

2) Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream

Why? - Heavy foundation is a no-go for me in summer; the heat, face oil, and humidity break down foundation in a flash. Rather than go naked-face to my summer destinations, I opt for this lighter BB cream formula. The 2.5 oz tube will meet carry-on regulations, and the screw on top will keep the cream where it should be until you are ready to use.

3) eos Lip Balm in Summer Fruit

Why? - Lip balm is always a must for me year round, and after discovering these totable eos lip balm spheres I will never carry anything else. So that makes this balm is a must pack for my (imaginary) summer vacay. The formula is lightweight, has a lovely flavor, and a delicious scent. Another plus is that this balm is 95% organic and 100% natural.

4) Benefit They're Real! Mascara Mini

Why? - For me, everyday is a mascara day, so having a mini-sized mascara that I can toss in my travel bag is perfect. This formula is terrific. I'm not a person who likes to spend a lot of money on mascara, but in my opinion this one is worth it. The brush is great at separating lashes, so the formula can catch and coat without clumping.

5) Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment

Why? - There is never a good time for a breakout, but especially on vacation where there will be lots of photographs taken to preserve the memories. The thing I don't want to preserve is the memory of a gigantic zit on my nose. I use this formula to prevent and treat my breakouts, dabbing it on acne prone areas and hitting any current pimples I have 2-3 times a day with this lightweight gel.

Another must is sunscreen, and I am a huge fan of Elta's UV Clear SPF 46 formula for acne prone skin.

Tell me, where you are heading this summer? And what are you packing in your toiletry kit before hitting the road, sky or sea?
