5 Ways to Look Cute (Without Trying) on Christmas Morning

Last Christmas got off to a rough start. I woke up, walked downstairs, and saw my entire extended family staring at me. Maybe it was because of my holey T-shirt and baggy sweatpants, or because my hair was going in at least five different directions, kinda like this celeb's.

This year, I'd rather not deal with the looks (not to mention my grandma lecturing me on "acting like a lady"). But there's no way I'm waking up at 6 a.m. for a full hair and makeup session. I'm just going to try these quick tips to "get ready" the night before come in handy. This way, I won't lose any sleep, or catch flack from my uptight relatives.

Tip no. 1: Wear cute pajamas the night before
Trust me, it's possible to find a pair of cute PJ's that don't make you think of pigtails. I can totally see myself perched on the couch, wearing these adorable Victoria's Secret ones, can't you?

Tip no. 2: Get photo-ready waves overnight
It's one of the tricks you'll find in this lazy girl's guide to hair. The night before, mist your hair with wave-enhancing spray (try Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, $23). Twist your hair into a bun and secure it with bobby pins. When you get up in the morning, finger comb through your hair for disheveled-on-purpose waves.

Tip no. 3: Give yourself glowing skin
Before you head downstairs, use your fingers to apply some tinted moisturizer. It'll give you some basic coverage and cover any dry patches of skin. If you've got a few extra seconds, try this yoga move to boost your circulation -- it'll give you that "glowing from within" look.

Tip no. 4: Hide your dark circles
Got dark circles? Apply a concealer that's a shade lighter than your natural skin tone under your eyes. Hint: using your ring finger will give you the best result (click here to see why).

Tip no. 5: Open up your eyes
If you do one thing to your eyes, make it this: curl your lashes and apply mascara (a blue one like Benefit Badgal Blue Mascara, $19 will help detract from any redness). Check out this bonus tip when it comes to curling your lashes, and then click here to find your perfect mascara.

I'm feeling pretty psyched about Christmas morning now, will you be getting all dolled up too? Or can your relatives handle holey sweats better than mine?
