Bethenny Frankel Inspired Drybar's New Skinnygirl Ponytail

During the holiday party mayhem, you may not have time for hours of hairstyling. So we found a chic 'do that can be created in just five minutes.


When Alli Webb, the founder of of the national salon chain, Drybar, met Real Housewife-turned-entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel, it was friendship at first sight (they bonded over being mothers and career gals). Now, they've joined forces to create a holiday 'do that will be offered exclusively at Drybar: The Skinnygirl ponytail. This style mimics the Skinnygirl logo, which is an illustration of a chick wearing a perky pony. "Bethenny and I both empower women," says Webb. "She wants them to have a drink and not feel bad, and we want them to feel great when they get their hair blown out."

1. Fresh Start

"Make sure your hair is as smooth and clean as you can get it," says Webb, who recommends blowing your hair straight with a bit of curl at the ends before starting this style. "So when you pull it back, it won't look dirty and oily or create ripples and bumps." She notes that can you can get away with one-day-old hair, especially with the help of dry shampoo.

2. Grab and Go

Flip your head upside down, and then grab your entire mane with one hand. Use your other hand to sweep any wispies around your hairline into the ponytail with a paddle brush. Smooth strands out from all angles, especially where you have bangs or layers. This will ensure an allover, smooth finish.

3. Tie the Knot

"Prop your pony at your crown," says Webb. "Secure it with a clear, elastic holder, because it doesn't show as much. If your hair is heavy and starts dripping, stick bobby pins into the elastic at base of the ponytail to give it more support." Leave a few strands loose and wrap them around the elastic (use open ended bobby pins to keep this section of hair in place) for extra flair.

4. Mist-ical Move

Use a light hairspray and your fingers to tame flyways around your ears and hairline. "You can also spray it on your palms first to avoid getting the hard hairspray look," says Webb. "Once your hair is secured, take a couple of small sections of your ponytail and coil them around a curling iron to add bounciness."

5. Crown Jewels

Webb revealed to us that she plans on selling Ban.do accessories at the salons to be used in conjunction with this hairstyle. So, DIYer's, take note, and add festive pom-pom barrettes or a sparkly headband to dress-up your 'do, too.
