Have a Hot Date? Steal These Sexy Celeb-Inspired Looks
For me, the happiest four words in the English language are: I have a date.
Hey, hey, don't judge. I'm not some brainless, desperate woman whose sole goal in life is landing a man but, when you've been single as long as I have, getting asked out by someone who is bona fide boyfriend material is great news -- and that's exactly what happened to me on Wednesday at precisely 4:41 p.m.
Because this happens with much less regularity than I care to admit, I want to look perfect for this date. Besides, there's something about the whole ritual of preparing to go out that factors into making it an exciting evening. That's why I've carved out two whole hours to get ready so that I'll be able to pull off more than my default office-chic bun and chapstick look.

Here's the thing though, much as I wish I was one of those girls who effortlessly recreates Adele's stellar cat-eye or Scarjo's perfect pout with the flick of an eyeliner and swish of a brush, when it comes to figuring out what look to go for -- and then, how to achieve it -- I'm less than ill-equipped. So, what's a hapless girl with a hot date supposed to do? Check out "Sexy Makeup for Dummies?" from the library? Maybe. But I did the next best thing … I Googled it!
And, whaddaya know? Good old Google yielded gazillions of results and from those I was able to cull 7 gorgeous celeb hair and makeup looks as well as the how-tos to make them feasible! Ain't modern life grand? Let's just hope my date turns out as well.
Here are my newly found 7 favorite celeb-inspired date-night-worthy looks.
Rose Byrne's sleek, chin-length bob and rosy blush are perfect for a low-key dinner. To get the look, apply leave-in conditioner to damp hair and blow dry straight with a round brush. If you want a super-sleek finish, flatiron throughout and finish with a shine-enhancing product. (Try FEKKAI Brilliant Glossing Shine Mist, $25.) Set with hairspray. For Rose's girly glow, apply a coral pink lip-and-cheek color. (Try Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain in Jive, $19.)
Speaking of dancing, Julianne Hough knows how to keep men on their feet. Just look at those tousled waves and "come hither" lashes. Definitely sexy. To get the look, apply mousse throughout wet hair and spray volumizer at the crown of your head. (Try Pantene Fine Hair Solutions Root Lifter Spray Gel, $3.99.) Blow dry 2-inch sections from front to back with a medium round brush. Pin each section up into a curl after drying and let it set for about five minutes. Dianna's elegant look is appropriate for semi-formal nights out, yet it packs in sex appeal by showing off her beautiful face, long neck, and pouty lips. To get the look, blow dry hair with a round brush, sweeping it to the sides. Finish with a shine enhancing product. (Try FEKKAI Brilliant Glossing Cream, $34.) Pin up the rest of your hair in a loose French twist and set with hairspray. To get her big, bouncy curls, apply a gel-shine lotion combo to conditioned hair and blow dry with a diffuser. Wrap dry hair in a spiral fashion around a small-barrel curling iron, leaving out the ends. Mist lightly with hairspray. Gather hair into a ponytail at the nape of your neck, leaving out 2-inch sections of hair around your face. Secure the pony with an elastic. Jessica Chastain is a vision in red. Try her glamorous waves and bold red lips when you want to leave a lasting impression. To get the look, apply mousse to wet hair and blow dry. Part hair to the side, spritz it with heat-protective styling spray, and wrap 1- to 2-inch sections around a medium-sized curling iron.
