  • If You Are Obsessed with Adele, Raise Your Hand (And Grab Your Scotch Tape)

    Adele, Grammys 2012

To say I am obsessed with all things Adele is an understatement. From her insane pipes to her soulful songs to her vintagey retro look. And her cheeky I-am-who-I-am persona seals the deal! Absolutely. Love. Her.

Since I'm not much of a singer (or very good at a British accent), I'll happily settle for her 60s oh-so-glam look. The key to this stunning retro style starts with bold, black winged liner. But if you're anything like me you've never been able to pull of the perfect cat-eye liner. My lack of liner prowess stems from a combination of shaky hands (me and free-handing it don't mix) and fear of looking like an Amy Winehouse impersonator. Alas, I have three different liquid liners that are sadly collecting dust in my makeup drawer. Well, fear winged liner no more, Adele enthusiasts. This one-minute how-to tutorial will have you channeling your inner 60s siren in a jiffy. It involves Scotch Tape (yes, Scotch Tape), a slanted

    I heart Pinterest graphic

In true late-to-the-game fashion, I have recently fallen in love with Pinterest! It ranks up there with the likes of getting to meet Johnny Depp, the best dessert you ever ate, and your husband doing all laundry and cooking for an entire month. What is Pinterest, you ask? Think of it as a virtual "pin board" that lets you organize and share the things you love on the Internet. During your web perusing, if you stumble upon a pair of shoes you'd like to add to your wish list, a makeup trend you're dying to try, or a recipe you're thinking about making, simply click your "pin" button (which lives on your browser toolbar) and, voila! That image and web link is then added to your designated Pinterest board and your "pin" will be at your fingertips in a nice, neat, organized fashion forever. (Insert cries of joy here!)

I lovingly refer to my Pinterest addiction as a totally productive time suck. Once you start "pinning," you'll know

    Entertainment Weekly Hunger Games edition
The Hunger Games Trilogy ranks up there with notorious addictions like chocolate, french fries, and shoes. If you're not familiar with these books and are planning on reading them, believe me when I tell you to buy the complete set. They're the can't-put-down kind that will leave you pulling your hair out if you don't have the next book handy! (Trust. Me.)

Naturally, these seriously addictive reads have inspired box-office movies (the first to premiere in March) and will undoubtedly spark a bevy of story-inspired beauty products. China Glaze is the first to kick things off with their 12-color collection. The inspiration? The book's main setting: Panem. And so you can properly don these gorgeous nail shades with full-on Hunger Games attitude, here's a super short synopsis: The nation's Capitol, Panem, forces each of its twelve districts teenagers to compete in the Hunger Games . The teenagers (called Tributes) must fight one another

  • A Pillow that Prevents Wrinkles? Bring on the ZZZs

    Sharpei puppies

The other day I was visiting my favorite beauty spa for an overdue facial and I spotted an anti-wrinkle pillow. My first thought: wow, they've truly thought of everything regarding all things beauty. Followed by: a wrinkle-fighting pillow…genius. No two ways about it, I'm a chronic side sleeper (here's a visual: curled up on my side, fetal position, with my face smashed -and I mean smashed- into my pillow). Yep, there's zero doubt that I'm causing an extra wrinkle or two throughout my night of heavy beauty slumber. I once heard that we spend a third of our life sleeping. That's a lot of zzz's…and potential wrinkles.

The Save My Face anti-wrinkle pillow basically helps combat compression wrinkles (those caused by your face being pressed into the surface of your pillow for long periods of time). The crescent-shaped design of the pillow supports the head while elevating the face. As far as the size of your noggin, this wrinkle

    fat seal

We've all had that dreaded "fat day." You wake up and feel…well, fat. Doesn't matter if you're pin-thin or curvy…happens to all of us (especially during big food fests like the typical post-Thanksgiving food extravaganza). It's not so much a number on the scale as it is a mental thing (and midriff thing). You feel like you weigh two thousand pounds…and all two thousand pounds is located smack dab in your middle section. Yep. Nothing fits right or looks right, no matter how many outfits you try on. And while you're frantically trying to find a pair of pants or skirt that doesn't make you feel like a sausage, all the while you're feeling like a big, bloated blob (no sugar coating here).

First things first…put down the stretchy, elastic waisted pants, ladies. Here are five sure-fire, speedy fixes to give your fat day its walking papers:

Pinpoint the culprit. Figure out the cause of your pudgy predicament. Was it the four extra

    girl in green field

These days we are surrounded by a growing beauty product trend; cosmetic, hair, and skin goods labeled "green," "organic," and "natural" (it sounds like the description of the spinach salad I had for lunch). From deodorant to shampoo to lipstick, you won't be hard-pressed to find a natural, green, or organic version. Since I'm flirting with the idea of going totally green and organic when it comes to my food and recyclables, I decided to get to the bottom of the green beauty buzz and break it down, layman's style.

    Green…Natural…Organic…What's The Beauty 411?

To name a few of many, companies like Weleda, Jane Iredale, and Physician's Formula all offer natural or organic beauty products. What's more, natural and organic beauty sales have skyrocketed in the past few years and, per research company Kline & Co., are expected to hit $6.7 billion by 2015. But before you ditch your current products for natural, green, or organic

  • Would Audrey Hepburn Have Preferred Blue Eyes?

    audrey hepburn brown eyes

They've written many a song about brown-eyed beauties. Furthermore, the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Halle Berry have prompted many a peeper envy. So when I learned of a beauty procedure that can turn brown eyes blue, I was, well, amazed…and a bit miffed (okay, mostly miffed). Aside from the fact that my eyes are deep brown, I'm a firm believer that ones eye color ranks up there with unique-to-you physical characteristics like much relished beauty marks and imperfectly perfect smiles. Listen, I'm all about the most cutting edge beauty procedures and love to dabble in the latest makeup trends, skin care topicals, and even a cellulite treatment or two. I'm a lover (or, at the very least, an appreciator) of all things beauty (from over-the-counter products to medi-spa regimens). But there's something about permanently changing one's eye color…it just seems like such a beauty….waste (did I mention that I'm partial to brown eyes?).

  • Are These Three Things Making You Look Old?

    frumpy old woman

Whether in your 20s or 50s, every gal I know is all about a youthful looking body and skin. Let's be honest…we all want to hear "wow, you look amazing" on each and every birthday. And we undoubtedly want to be the skin envy of all (hey, it's not solely vanity, it's skin preservation mixed with a wee bit of vanity…there's a difference). These beauty fixes will have you looking so young your local coffee barista will stop calling you ma'am:

    1) Eyes: There's no arguing the importance of this one, girls. When it comes to youthful looking skin, the eyes have it (literally). Unfortunately, things like smiling a lot and sun damage create "crows' feet" or fine lines around the eyes. Dark circles and under-eye bags also make peepers look older. The good news is you can fix most of these.

Fixes: A great eye cream is a smart start. If you're not using an eye cream in the AM and PM, start…immediately. However, if you feel the lines

  • Beauty Sleep…Myth Or Must?

{by} Sasha | Crows' Feet, Cupcakes, and Cellulite

Like most women, I usually wake up tired. The kind of tired that makes you want to crawl back in bed and sleep for 24 straight hours. The kind of tired that causes you to bump into your chest of drawers (that's been in the exact same spot for years). The kind of tired that leaves you looking like you feel. That kind of tired.

The other morning, after cursing the sleep gods for yet another day of tired, I inspected my face in the mirror. Definite, undeniable proof of pure tired. Which prompted me to wonder if there's really any truth to the term "beauty sleep." We've all heard how important sleep is for all the biggies like over-all health, good skin, and even staying trim. So, for the sake of the bags under my eyes and my not-so-perfect skin, I decided to investigate.

Can Lack Of Sleep Really Affect Attractiveness?

According to a study by the British Medical Journal it can. The zzz's experts say sleep is essential to a person's

  • Get Your Drama Fix: Maybelline Master Drama Cream Eye Pencil

{by} Sasha | Crows' Feet, Cupcakes, and Cellulite
This week's beauty obsession is Maybelline's Eye Studio Master Drama Cream Eye Pencil(that's a mouthful). This creamy liner glides on perfectly, and like its long title, is long lasting. In my not-so-humble opinion it's comparable to expensive department store brands for less than half the cost. I'm a bit of an eyeliner snob and have found the cheaper the liner, the more it tends to run or not last (I hate it when my liner pulls a Houdini and disappears after a couple of hours). To my makeup-loving surprise, this liner compares to its more expensive kin.

Maybelline touts their liner as the next generation of liner, and with it's long list of perks I'm inclined to agree. It's oil-free formula holds a high pigment concentration ensuring long-lasting color. To boot, this lush liner is waterproof and smudgeproof (have I died and gone to eye liner heaven?).

This lavish liner comes in a multitude of colors including Vibrant Violet,
